ABOUT FRIENDS OF HORFIELD COMMON

Friends of Horfield Common (FOHC) started in 2006 when a group of neighbours and interested residents decided to work together to ensure continued access to, availability of, and improvement of the state of Horfield Common. Friends of Horfield Common works in partnership with Bristol City Council and other interested organisations and groups.

During 2009 FOHC organised a range of social and fundraising activities which included:

A sponsored walk around the Ardagh Sports club to raise funds for a new bench
A working party to mend the fencing around The Ardagh Sports facilities
Removal of dead trees and coppicing.
Clearance of the ditch and pond areas
A Summer Picnic

Installation of a new bench and planting of new trees to replace trees which have died

Installation of new 'dog bin' and rubbish bins
Repair of the concrete posts on the edge of the car park

Membership of FOHC is £2.00 and anyone with an interest is welcome to join. See the contact pages for further details.

FOHC holds regular meetings at Ardagh Sports Club which are regularly well-attended by a wide range of representatives and individuals from a large-number of groups who use the common, local residents and other interested parties which have included Bristol City Council, Avon and Somerset Constabulary, Monks Park School, Local Anti-Graffiti groups, Tesco and local Neighbourhood Watch groups.
